Columbus ISD is in contact with the Region III Service Center and the Commissioner of Education. We are following closely what the CDC is saying as well. Effective immediately, ALL CISD facilities are closed to students, parents, the public and all but a few employees who will be needed to plan and help disinfect until March 23, 2020. This includes all campuses, the fieldhouse and the track. We apologize for this inconvenience, however, we are taking extreme precaution. Until March 30, 2020, there will be no UIL contests. Also until further notice there will be no organized practices for any sport or event.
Columbus ISD is asking that all students/families who traveled in the last 14 days to a location on the CDC travel alert website, to please notify their campus principal or school nurse via email BEFORE their child returns to school. The Texas Education Agency reminded school officials on March 6th that “districts have the authority to request that students and/or staff stay home if there is serious concern about their current health, whether or not they pose a health risk to others in the community.”
