STOCKDALE ISD: School closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year

Schoolclosed

Stockdale ISD issued the following announcement on May 04.

This is your information station for updates on the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) situation for Stockdale ISD.

Parents and Guardians,

This is Daniel Fuller, Superintendent of Stockdale ISD. The Stockdale High School graduation ceremony is one of the most important events of the year. Our community, students and their families take much pride in this momentous occasion.

Due to COVID-19, it has made us reevaluate when and how we will recognize and congratulate our Class of 2020. In an effort to solidify a date that will not continually move, we have decided upon three solutions depending upon the current state and local executive orders and social distancing requirements. We have set the Class of 2020 graduation ceremony as Friday, July 31, 2020 at 7:00 pm.

As state and local restrictions change, our district may need to enforce restrictions accordingly. In order to comply with restrictions, our event may be impacted to include, but not limited to, limited attendance to a few guests per graduate to comply with social distancing requirements, possible requirement of wearing face coverings, and modifications to how the program will be delivered. Please keep in mind this is all dependent upon what is allowable at the time of the ceremony.

Our best case scenario will be to continue having a traditional graduation ceremony in the gymnasium with state and local restrictions enforced. A secondary solution would be to conduct the ceremony on the football field if open air restrictions are less restrictive. If it is later determined that a live graduation ceremony is absolutely not possible, we will arrange for a processional of Seniors in their cars to parade through our streets, thus allowing friends and neighbors to cheer from their own yards, vehicles and porches. If we resort to this option, more details will be provided.

We have planned for Tuesday, May 26th and Wednesday, May 27th to collect all necessary items to conclude the school year. The following times and locations will be available to submit final packets and any items to be checked-in, such as chromebooks, and calculators:

9:30 am - 12:30 pm in the parent drop off line at our Elementary campus

4:00 pm - 6:00 pm at the entrance of the HS, JH & Elementary campuses

Another important date is May 28th as this will be the last day for meal deliveries. Please be aware that on Friday, May 22nd each student will have additional meals that are being delivered to accommodate Monday, May 25th as it is Memorial Day and meals will not be provided on that day.
