East Bernard High School issued the following announcement.
Senior, Valerie Grigar has singed to swim at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Valerie has lettered in swimming all four years and track and field one year at EBHS. She was the District champion in the 100 and 200 freestyle as a freshman and placed first in the 100 free at Regionals her sophomore year. She finished in the Top-3 at Regionals her junior year in both the 100 and 200 and represented East Bernard at the UIL State Meet her sophomore and junior years. As a Class 3A swimmer, Valerie must compete in the UIL Class 5A division against swimmers from much larger schools.
Valerie is also a member of the Mighty East Bernard Brahma Band and ranked very high in the graduating class of 2021.
In a 2019 interview with the Ft. Bend Herald previewing the state swim meet, Valerie put it best, “At East Bernard we pride ourselves in state qualifiers and winners. So to have this opportunity to represent my school and make history makes me feel proud. My goal is to swim to best of my abilities and show everyone around Texas what it means to be a Brahamarette.”
