FLORESVILLE ISD: Superintendent Bays Announces Retirement

Anounce

Floresville ISD issued the following announcement.

At their December meeting, the FISD Board of Trustees accepted the retirement of Dr. Sherri Bays effective June 30, 2021. Dr. Bays has been in the district for 26 years and superintendent for the last eight years. She retires with 30 years of service to public schools.

During the 26 years of service to FISD, Dr. Bays has worn many hats including teacher, middle school principal, high school principal, assistant superintendent and finally superintendent. During her tenure as superintendent,  Dr. Bays has said many times that FISD does its best work when collaborating with all stakeholders and, under her leadership with the input from staff, parents, community members and area leaders, the district created a set of guiding documents that could continue to provide direction for years to come.

The FISD Strategic Plan, created in 2018, sets goals and priorities for the district through 2023. The FISD Portrait of a Graduate of Graduate indicates what FISD parents, staff and community want and expect to see in Floresville ISD graduates. And, finally, the FISD Core Beliefs guide the manner in which these endeavors should be accomplished.

“I am proud to say that none of the things accomplished or the goals set during the last eight years were Sherri Bays’ goals or ideals. They were the collaborative efforts of the people I serve to provide the best opportunities for kids. The work we’ve done together for the last eight years has been focused on preparing students to live a prosperous life after leaving Floresville ISD,” said Bays.

On December 16, 2020, the FISD Board held a Special Meeting to review four proposals submitted by superintendent search firms. The Board selected Walsh Gallegos Treviño Russo & Kyle P.C. to facilitate the superintendent search process. Below is a tentative timeline for the Floresville ISD superintendent search.
