Victoria College’s Gonzales Center will offer a “Core Curriculum: Introductory Craft Skills” class from Jan. 12 to Feb. 11.
Victoria College’s Gonzales Center will offer one session of “Core Curriculum: Introductory Craft Skills” from 6 to 10 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Jan. 12-Feb. 11.
The class is mandatory for anyone who wants to enroll in one of VC’s industrial trades job training courses.
The Introductory Craft Skills course is common for all National Center for Construction and Research (NCCER) training and is required for NCCER Certification for all Level 1 courses such as electrical; heating, ventilation and air conditioning; millwright; pipefitting; plumbing; power line worker; scaffolding; and welding. No prior experience is necessary.
The course provides an introduction to basic safety, construction math, hand tools, power tools, blueprints, basic rigging, communication skills and basic employability skills. Following successful completion of the class, an NCCER certification and a certificate of completion will be awarded.
Successful completion qualifies students to register for Victoria College electrical; heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC); millwright; pipefitting; plumbing; power line worker; and welding courses.
The cost for “Core Curriculum: Introductory to Craft Skills” is $285. Scholarships and financial aid are available.
Classes will be held at VC’s Workforce Training Center located at 424 E. Sarah DeWitt Drive in Gonzales.
Due to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations, students will be required to wear a facial covering, have their temperatures taken and pass a health screening before entering the classroom. Social distancing will also be required.
