There were 724 students enrolled in Shiner ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 2% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 52.8% of them were boys, and 47.2% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 70.7% of the Shiner ISD total enrollment.

Shiner ISD roughly covers schools within Lavaca County with its main office in Shiner.

Among the two schools in Shiner ISD, Shiner Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 410 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
