Wharton County Junior College issued the following announcement on April 28.
Students enrolled in Wharton County Junior College's Emergency Medical Services program are currently assisting with COVID-19 screenings at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds.
Outfitted in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that includes gowns, face shields and gloves, the students helped collect samples for the screenings, assisting Fort Bend County EMS and the Fort Bend County Health and Human Services. WCJC EMS program Director Gary Bonewald said the screenings provide students with unique insight into dealing with the kinds of drastic changes that can occur in the healthcare field.
The training can be applied toward the clinical training students must complete as part of their course curriculum. Pictured, left to right, are Christopher Gilmer of Richmond, Kieran Rosas of Simonton, Bryce Armstrong of Brenham and Dusty Hixson of Sugar Land.
